A Great Hint for You Relative to Botulinum Injections Sydney
BoTox is fast becoming established amongst Sydney’s stylish crowd and now it has become an essential part of a beauty routine for many in the city. Nevertheless I am frequently amazed by the various urban legends that have originated around this painless treatment.
Here are a few of the more myths which we hear everyday at Star Cosmetic Medicine, where I work as a physician.
Mistake # 1: I will lose the ability to express emotion!
There are 60 or so muscles in the human face. Their excessive use can cause fine line formation. If an excess of BoTox has been injected facial muscles may become over relaxed. The dose used by most doctors are designed to make you appear ‘refreshed’, however you will still be every bit as expressive.

By using a carefully measured dosage of the preparation in exactly the right areas an expressive face is kept whilst the wrinkles are reduced.
Mistake # 2: BoTox is toxic!
There is a little truth in this. Botulinum Toxin Type A is the exact scientific nomenclature. In very large quantities it may end up in loss of muscle tone or can even cause sickness.
However to keep things in perspective – an ancient pharmacist’s saying is that ‘everything is poisonous – it all depends on the dose’. A large dosage of any medicine may cause sickness. If you drink too great a quantity of water you will die.
Mistake # 3: BoTox will hurt!
At Star Cosmetic Medicine the physician will use hypodermic needles finer than human hair. Numerous people have said that the shots aren’t as painful as bug bites. Certainly not as painful as having a blood profile.
Mistake # 4: I will lose sensation in my face!
Untrue. BoTox targets the junction between the nerve and the facial muscle, not sensate nerve fibers. BoTox only affects the relaxation of muscles.
Mistake # 5. Once you begin BoTox you need to continue or you will develop worse wrinkles than ever!
Also false.
One treatment is effective for about three months. Any further injections after the first one commonly last a few weeks longer. The lines will gradually reappear as the muscle returns to normal. But your wrinkles won’t be worse than when you began your BoTox therapy.
In fact the wrinkles should be be less pronounced than if you hadn’t had BoTox injections – even if you don’t persevere with the treatment. This, of course is chiefly so due to the fact you have allowed your skin to have a ‘wrinkle holiday’ whilst the BoTox was working.
