A Sports Fan’s Dream Come True

If your favorite team or sporting event isn’t being aired on your local network channel, you would usually have to wait for the shortened highlights in the evening sports recap on the nightly news. Often the weather got more coverage than your favorite team or player and if you blinked you found yourself switching channels furiously to try and find the recap somewhere else.

With the advent of cable television came the introduction of exclusive sports networks like ESPN, Fox Sports, The Golf Channel and SPEEDTV, just to name a few. The list is ever growing and caters to just about every sport known to mankind.

Football and baseball diehard fans are no longer restricted to only games aired by the major networks. On any given day, cable allows access to just about every game that is televised and with all the money that is made in sports that means few are not aired.

These exclusive channels give wider coverage of sports and will often have features on game instruction, player biographies and the history of the sport. So the true sports fan can find the right amount of information on each of his or her chosen pastimes. With the addition of a personal video recorder, you can view the highlights the way you want to see them and replay them as often as you choose.

Some events have only been made more popular through their exposure on cable. The huge interest in Texas Hold’em poker tournaments and the unique characters that play this game has cable to thank for a lot of its early television exposure. Only recently has the major networks recognized the increased popularity of this culture.

Other sports that have received the same kind of growth are what are often referred to as Extreme Sports such as competitive skateboarding, snowboarding and so many other new events spawned by today’s adventurous youth.

Your favorite chair is no doubt the one that sits in front of your television set. Cable makes it so easy to enjoy the game and all the others that you can surf and if you have access to the Internet through cable, they all have websites to give you even more information. The cable sports fan rules. They get to see what they want and when they want just by a couple of simple clicks.
